Altruist, a brand with a mission

The mission, part 1

Top quality sunscreen for a reasonable price

Sunscreen needs to be more affordable

The founders of Altruist are concerned about the level of skin cancer and analysed that one of the reasons was that sunscreen is just too expensive to use on a daily basis. So, they decided to create a sunscreen that has all the characteristics to be a good alternative for daily use and is still affordable.

Altruist, your best buy

A sunscreen that you use daily should have the following characteristics. First of all, it needs to be a waterproof, broad spectrum sunscreen with a good protection on UVA and UVB.

Then it needs to be easy to apply, have a pleasent sent and feel. Because the best sunscreen is the one you use. And if it is pleasent to use, you are more likely to use it frequently.

Altruist sunscreen is a top quality product, has all the pleasant features and is affordable. Altruist should be your number one choice of sun protection and skin care.

The mission, part 2

Better education and awareness

Use sunscreen everyday

There is a lot of misconception on using sunscreen. When to use, how to use, which one to use. Everyone seems to have his or her own opinion about it. According to Andrew Birnie of Altruist it is quite simple: All people who go outsided need to use sunscreen everyday!

 Also people with colour?

The simple answer is “yes, also people with colour.” A person with colour has less change on sunburn and skin cancer, although the changes are still real.  But the effect from UVA radiation on ageing of the skin is always there. So if you want to prevent wrinkles, uneven skin tone and pigmentation, use sunscreen every day.

How to apply sunscreen correct

Best is to implement applying sunscreen on the not covered skin parts in your morning routine and then repeat it during the day every few hours depending on the exposure and intensity of the solar radiation. Especially your face and neck are important. Make sure it is an even layer that covers your skin completely. Most people don’t use enough.

A good sunscreen lotion is waterproof, but this doesn’t mean you don’t need to re-apply after swimming or towelling.

The mission, part 3

Free sunscreen for people with Albinism

Altruist and profit

Altruist is a not for profit organisation. Their purpose is not to maximize their profit, but to maximize the donations to persons with albinism and other people with vulnerable skin. And because they believe that sunscreen needs to be affordable, their price is lower than other sunscreen lotions.

The more they sell, and the more Conec Care sells, the more sunscreen will be donated. So, if you buy Altruist products instead of other brands, you help yourself, because you buy a good product for a lower price, and the many men, women and children with albinism that can’t live without this sunscreen.

Altruist is donating directly to the dutch African Albinism Foundation, that supports persons with albinism in 12 African countries by providing them with sunscreen.
